A big WIN for Drupal WxT - Ottawa.ca

Nov 30 2012

Today, the City of Ottawa launched a new and improved website that includes an updated look and feel, easy navigation, improved accessibility and is responsive mobile design.

OpenPlus was the primary vendor leading the City of Ottawa (ottawa.ca) website initiative, integrating the key features, deployment of Drupal 7 WxT and deploying SOLR search engine platform. In conjunction with OpenConcept who handled some of the architecture and some of the complex migration executions of this project.

Over the last three months there has been great collaboration between WxT and the Drupal community worked diligently in deploying this open source platform which will save the city money and make it easier and faster for future developments.

The ottawa.ca site is leveraging a Drupal 7 architecture along with the integration of the Government of Canada's WxT/WET accessibility elements lead by the Treasury board of Canada. The current deployment is mobile-first responsive and also has a much better search platform capabilities using Solr... with many features upcoming still to be enabled. This project reflects the initial migration to a structured and managemeble Web Content Platform for the City, and features only the first stage of capabilities.
